A longer but leisurely tramp, starting out from Broughton, through local fields visiting local hostelries en route. Walking on familiar well-trodden paths we head north from Broughton to Wistow for breakfast. Then on to Upwood where the pub is currently closed but if it is open we will have time for a short break and drink. From here to Great Raveley and up to the ridge, past a local land-mark “top barn”. We then come in site of Wood Walton and head south towards Abbots Ripton, where there will be an extended lunch stop for those who wish to have lunch at the Elm. Following which back along woodland edges and field boundaries to
Broughton.
At the Crown in Broughton there will be a live brass band outside the Crown and pizzas
being served (no booking needed) from 5.30pm to 8.30pm - You could of course book a table yourself at the Crown for the evening.
We welcome walkers from other groups especially as this being a longer walk and we will, perhaps, be a
smaller party than usual.
Please bring survival rations/backup lunch as it is a longer walk and of course plenty of
water and electrolytes.
***Please let Richard know in advance if you will be having lunch at the Elm as it is likely to be
busy on a summer weekend so we will book. You could pre-order your food yourself or we
will pause near Wood Walton to advise them that we are on our way and to order.***
