The LYVEDEN WAY is a 10-mile circular trail. We follow the marked trail towards Lyveden New Bield which we can see from the path (It's owned by the National Trust and well worth a visit on another occasion). From here the route takes us to pretty Wadenhoe where the churchyard makes a good vantage point for a lunch break, before returning through Rockingham Forest to our starting point. We will be too late for the bluebells, but are bound to see cowslips and red kites.
We start at Fermyn Woods Country Park. Parking here costs £3.5 per vehicle, there is a refreshments kiosk and toilets.
The trail was officially opened in September 2005 to commemorate 400 years of Lyveden New Bield, the Elizabethan lodge started by Sir Thomas Trensham in celebration of his catholic faith.
The walk takes in the very best of the Northants countryside.
