Overview

Starting from Alstonefield car park, we head north and descend the valley between Narrowdale and Gratton Hills, to reach the beautiful Wolfscotedale. We follow the River Dove to Milldale, ascending into open country to Stanhope before returning to Alstonefield where we can refresh ourselves at the George Inn.

8.5 miles, several undulations, lovely countryside and views.

Directions: From Lichfield take A51, then A515 to Ashbourne. Continue on A515 for approx 5 miles, then take a left turn marked Milldale/Alstonefield. At Alstonefield follow signs to car park/toilets (off Lode Lane). Card needed for payment £4.75
