This moderate walk is approximately 7 miles/ 11km in length, with about 600ft/183m of ascent across pleasant countryside, with excellent views from the higher ground overlooking the Ettrick Valley.
Full hill-walking gear is required, and poles are recommended for crossing some of the muddier sections of the route. There will be some styles on the route, which proceeds along pathways, forest tracks and some sections of road. The walk returns via the Haining to the main car park at West Port in Selkirk, which has a range of cafes for those who require immediate refreshment.
