Overview

This figure of 8 walk, ideal for new and old members alike.

Explore Cheshire’s Castle Country and the Peckforton Hills.  Beeston Castle perched on a rocky crag 350ft above the Cheshire plain, built in the 1220s by Ranulf de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, on his return from the Crusades.  This walk takes in pleasant field paths, sandstone caves as well as a climb to Raw Head, although only 745ft, the highest point in the Peckforton Hills, was once consider on only 3 Marilyns in Cheshire, and should provide extensive views across the Cheshire Plains, the castles and beyond.

This is 10 mile walk, mostly on well made path and some fields which are likely to be very muddy if there is rain.  There may be cattle in the fields.
