Starting on the outskirts of Buxton at Poole's Cavern and Buxton Country Park we ascend through woodland paths to reach the viewing tower at Solomons Temple. We then make our way upwards to the gritstone wild moorland of Axe Edge Moor before dropping to enter the tip of the Goyt Valley. After a stream side lunch we skirt the edge of Errwood Reservoir before taking an old railway track back to our start point.
The starting point is in Poole's Cavern Visitors Centre car park. If the payment machine is still broken car park tickets must be bought in the Visitors Centre which opens at 0930am. The cost is £3 for the day.
There is also roadside parking adjacent to the country park.
There are toilets and a cafe at the Visitors Centre where we will stop after our walk. The car park closes at 5pm.
Dogs on short leads are permitted. Expect woodland paths, fields, moorland and a rocky track.
