A circular walk starting from the Greenleas Recreation Ground Car Park in Hangleton, heading up to Devil’s Dyke and down into Saddlescombe Farm for lunch. Food and hot and cold drinks are available at the Wildflower Cafe. For those bringing a picnic lunch we can find a picnic spot near the cafe. The afternoon part of the walk is along the Sussex Border Path and Monarch’s Way. there is the option of a post-walk beverage at the lovely Hangleton Manor.
There is a steady climb to Devil’s Dyke and some up and down through the South Downs. The walk is of moderate difficulty.
The walk is accessible by public transport. Bus numbers 5B, 6 and 47 have stops close to the starting point and Portslade train station is about a 10 minute walk from the starting point.
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give the walk leader a rough idea of how many people may be attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on.
We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. Click here (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership) to apply. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits. Please then bring your membership card with you.
