A hilly but rewarding walk in the Yorkshire Wolds. We start with a steep climb from Bishop Wilton – it's worth pausing a couple of times on the way up to look behind you and enjoy the views (and definitely not because you're out of breath, oh no!). We then head for a route through access land at Deep Dale, and on to Sylvan Dale where we can have lunch overlooking the gorse-covered valley. After lunch, we pick up the Minster Way, and follow it through Millington and Givendale back to Bishop Wilton.
This walk enjoys great views across the Wolds and the Vale of York, and we should get to see plenty of wildlife and wildflowers.
🅿️ Car park at Bishop Wilton village hall, please bring change for the honesty box
🚌 East Yorkshire 747 bus runs from York Station at 0900, return to York via Pocklington
🥪 You'll need to bring a packed lunch, or arrive with enough time to pick something up from the village shop before we start the walk
☕🍰🍺 The village has a café and a pub for refreshments after the walk
⚠️ There are a few steep sections and a couple of sections can be muddy, so good boots are recommended and you may wish to bring poles
