We cross Henley bridge and follow the Chilterns Way to Remenden Wood, emerging to a good view across the Thames valley. We descend to Aston and the river bank which brings us to Hambleden Lock, where we cross the impressive weir at Mill End. Heading north with fine views of Hambleden ahead, we turn east and climb through woods eventually reaching Pheasants Hill, before dropping down to Hambleden and lunch.
After lunch via a wooded hill we reach the north bank of the Thames, which we follow back to Henley with some more good views.
Some of the paths can get muddy after rain.
There are 2 or 3 stiles on route, all in good repair. There are a few moderate hills.
Public toilets at the start are in Grays Road short stay car park The only public toilets enroute are in a car park shortly after Hambleden lock, which are limited (two cubicles) A few alfresco opportunities enroute exist in woodland. Hambleden has one pub and a village store/coffee shop.
