An easy walk mainly on good paths (canal towpath and Middlewood Way), almost entirely flat with a stepped descent from the Middlewood Way viaduct to the car park at the end. No stiles to climb over, but plenty of kissing gates and a couple of narrow gap stiles to get through.
From Adlington Road Ranger Station (free parking, toilets available) we cross the recreation ground to join the canal at Clarence Mill and follow the towpath to Clarke Lane, from where we take a field path (mud!) and track to rejoin the canal by Astra Zeneca & follow the towpath to Clarke Lane then the Middlewood Way to the Viaduct and descend to the car park.
The Vale Inn should be open for those wanting lunch after the walk
PLEASE CHECK OUR WEBSITE ON THE DAY FOR ANY CHANGES TO THE WALK.
NB Finish times are intended as a guide only.
You do not need to book for this walk
