WALK DETAILS AMENDED DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS
Due to icy conditions, the start point for this walk is now the Leather’s Smithy pub, Clarke Lane, Sutton.
PLEASE NOTE THE START TIME IS NOW 9.45. ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED.
Please use the parking spaces on either Clarke Lane or Standing Stone Road by Ridgegate Reservoir. The pub car park is for customers only.
Following a partial recce this morning, the roads are clear, but care is needed on some icy stretches, especially on Standing Stone Road alongside Ridgegate reservoir and up to Trentabank. Trentabank car park is snow covered and not recommended for parking.
The walk route is snowy with ice in places so care is needed. Some steeper sections. Poles are advised. Please bring warm clothing, snacks, hot drinks.
The route - 5 miles/8kms (approx) 780 feet of ascent (OS app) - Leather’s Smithy - Ridgegate reservoir - Clarke Lane - Bottoms reservoir - Clough House - Hardingland - Hacked Way Lane - ruined farmhouse - Macclesfield Forest - Leather’s Smithy.
The route is subject to change, depending on conditions.

Car sharing recommended due to parking spaces being limited. I can offer 2 spaces from Bramhall / Cheadle Hulme area. Please contact me if you’d like a lift.
