Overview

10.00 am start 8.5 – 9.00 miles, 1,606 ft ascent (OS Maps stats). Moderate. Start point: The Poachers Inn, 95 Ingersley Rd, Bollington, Macclesfield SK10 5RE. (next to the driveway into Savio House). SJ94257787 53.2978N 2.08773W. 

Usually plenty of parking on Ingersley Road or nearby on roads off the roundabout at the Turners Arms. Route: This is a figure of 8 route. Depending whether it is frosty or wet, I may alter the route slightly to avoid some muddy fields. Beautiful views on a fine day. Basic route: Mill Lane, Ingersley Vale, Oakenbank Lane, Kiskhill Lane, Jumper Lane, cross Blaze Hill, Bower Clough, Gritstone Trail to Brink Farm, short road walk on Bakestonedale road to pick up Gritstone Trail again to Sponds Hill. West to Bakestonedale Moor, cross Bakestonedale road and return to Poachers via Andrew’s Knob, Berristall Dale and Spuley Lane. Bus transport available. No public toilets. Bring food and drink for coffee and lunch stops. Should be back by 2.30 pm.  Contact Melanie 07854 093785.
