Overview

This walk makes the most of a striking section of the South West Coast path with extraordinary views and fascinating features that we will pause to enjoy. We start our walk at Shoalstone but there’s no time for a dip in the seawater pool as we head up through the woods to Berry Head and the fort before returning to the path which takes us to St Mary’s Bay, Sharkham Point and Man Sands (with its extremely steep descent). We then make our return with a significant climb up Southdown Hill, crossing fields to reach Brixham and its attractive harbour. There are potentially muddy and slippery sections on the descent to Man Sands, a few stiles (mostly reliable and sturdy) and some road walking at the end. Given the narrow paths and proximity to cliffs, this walk is not suitable for dogs.
