We will set off following the Peak Forest Canal to Furness Vale. Leaving the canal behind we will cross over the A6 to ascend up onto open country, passing Yeardsley Hall, Ringstone Caravan Park, Stoneheads, the Dipping Stones and Whaley Moor. Turning near the Moorside we return towards the start passing Cliff and through some pleasant woodland before reaching Start Lane which we follow to reach a path through more woodland, eventually coming out onto Reservoir Road which we will follow back to our starting point.
It is important to notify the walk leader beforehand if you wish to join the walk, leaving your contact details in the event of a late change. Please also contact the walk leader if you are unable to join the walk or a running late to arrive for the start in order that we are not waiting for you. Thank you.
Expect to see various wild life and plants on the route which will be on varied surfaces from stony tracks to paths. On the higher ground there should be extensive views in most directions and the Metropolis that is Manchester at the turning point of the walk - weather permitting of course. When walking the route on Easter Sunday many butterflies and blue bells were observed in the woods.
We stop for a refreshment and lunch breaks during the walk so please come prepared with food and drink. Waterproofs and spare layers are also suggested as although we will not be reaching very high ground our weather can be unpredictable
