We are the Gloucestershire Walking Group. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We will walk down to the Bay via Lloyd George Avenue. We will stop for coffee at the bay before returning to the centre of Cardiff via the Taff Trail. We will follow this into town and through Bute Park until we get to the road leading to the Tesco Extra store. Just before the Tesco store we turn right to continue along the other side of the River Taff back to Cardiff city centre where there will be the option to visit the Christmas light trail around Bute Park. There will be a coffee stop down by the bay and a lunch stop in Bute Park. There are plenty of opportunities to stop for food at the market stalls and down at the docks. For those intending to stay for the light trail we will stop for food at the various stalls on the trail.
I will book the trail for 4.45 pm to allow plenty of time to get the train home afterwards. Cost of light trail is £23.50. Trains run every 30 to 45 minutes back to Gloucester until 6.45 p.m. After that they are every hour.
For those coming by train, the earliest train from Gloucester is 10.49 a.m. Arriving at Cardiff Central at 11.55 a.m. Meet in Gloucester Railway station main car park. Grid reference: SO686185.
For those coming by car, we will start the walk from Cardiff Central station north car park at 12.00. Grid reference: ST182759.
This walk is arranged by ramblers and free to join. After 2 or 3 walks we request you become a member of the ramblers.
Do ensure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Walking boots are recommended. Bring poles if you think you'll need them.
We're encouraging people to book onto this walk via our meetup site. This helps walk leaders to know how many people to expect on the day.
