We are the Manchester and Salford Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The walk will try to follow the course of the River Medlock from the Castlefield Basin, through the Deansgate Square development, around Home and the Circle Square area. We will then cross the former UMIST campus that was built across the river into the new Mayfield Park to see the river opened up again. The walk will finish in the park and walkers can enjoy the park at their own pace. It is just a short walk from the Park to Piccadilly tram and train stations
There is an optional extra before our Monday Walk - a tour of the striking Victorian-era steel viaduct, and there are plans for a permanent a green ‘sky garden’ in the heart of historic Manchester. The meeting point for the walk will be at the Deansgate Castlefield Tram stop on the city bound platform.
Mayfield Park, Baring Street. Just a few minutes walk away from Piccadilly Station and Tram stop.
