The River Chelmer has burst its banks and made several sections of the path impassable. Unfortunately the walk is a no-goer.
We are the Hike Essex Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Meeting at 10:10 for a 10:15 start. Railway Station to Railway Station
Starting at Chelmsford Railway Station we follow the course of the Chelmer to Hatfield Peverel Station. We start walking out of the city and along this scenic river route as it meanders via a series of locks.
After lunch, we break off the river path at Paper Mill Lock and head to Hatfield Peverel via World's End Cottage and Smuggler's Barn. Finishing at Hatfield Peverel station for transport routes and maybe pubs.
Bring a picnic and good boots.

There are hourly trains to London, Chelmsford and Colchester from Hatfield Peverel Station. We can shelter in a pub if there's a wait.
