A 9½ mile hike from Chop Gate to the Wain Stones and back, with 500m of ascent, and a minor bit of scrambling at the Wain Stones (but don't worry, it's on the Cleveland Way so it really is very minor!)
We start from Chop Gate village hall over farm tracks to William Beck Farm, then some meadows and overgrown ferns. We then have our first incline up to Urra Moor, we follow this until we join the Cleveland Way, we then do a down and up on to Hasty Bank, we continue on here for a bit before we reach our destination the Wain Stones where we stop for lunch with views over Teesside and Roseberry Topping. After lunch we then go down and with one final up to Cold Moor, which we follow back to Chop Gate.
🅿️ Parking is at Chop Gate car park and is £5.50 all day (card payment only)
🚻 There are toilets next to the village hall (start/end of walk)
🍻 Refreshments: at the end of the walk there will be the opportunity to get a post-walk drink at the Buck Inn, about 100m walk from the car park
