Overview

This is a gorgeous walk around the picture postcard village of Grassington, this is a walk with lots of variety, some up and down and a bit of scrambling.

We start from the visitor's centre in the car park and walk through the village, up onto grazing fields with wonderful views of the Dales. We reach the village of Hebden and walk down to the river, looking at the stepping stones over the bridge. We follow the river back towards Grassington, passing Linton Falls and Ghaistrill's Strid before heading up into Grass Wood.

We leave the woodland to follow a quiet country road for a mile or so, reaching the village of Coniston and seeing Kilnsey Crag in the distance. We the head up through the gorge of Coniston Dib – hands will be needed to clamber up some of the rocks as this is a section involving some light scrambling.

Once we have ascended the gorge we come out onto lovely moorland and follow the Dales Way back down into Grassington, spotting an old limestone kiln and some limestone paving on the way.

🍦 🍺 ☕ 🍰 When we get back into Grassington there are lots of options for ice cream, beer, tea and cake. [What, all of them? That's just greedy! ed.]

This walk is NOT suitable for dogs as there are lots of stiles, and the scrambling may be challenging for our four legged friends.
