We will park in Edale, then head for Grindsbrook Clough. In my opinion, this is the best route up Kinder Scout, requiring some easy grade 1 scrambling, and getting “hands on” with the rock. We will enjoy amazing views from the top, while enjoying a well earned coffee break. From there we head along the plateau edge, to Crowden Tower, still following the edge we pass the remarkable rock formations of the Wool Packs, Pym Chair and Noe Stool. After lunch, (on a clear day you can just make out the mountains of Snowdonia in the far distance) we then descend to join Jacobs Ladder and the Pennine Way, which will eventually lead us to Upper Booth, and back to Edale.
Grindsbrook Clough is steep and rocky, so good boots are required. The descent down Jacobs Ladder is stepped, and poles would be an advantage to help the knees! Please bring a picnic and plenty of water.
This walk will be postponed if weather forecast unsuitable - if in doubt please give me ring/text on morning of walk.
There are toilets in the car park, and pubs/cafes in Edale
