The car park is on the edge of the lovely old village of Winster, next to the school. Our walk goes back through the village to take tracks across fields and along a country lane to Birchover. We make our way onto Stanton Moor which had settlements during the Bronze Age, and visit the reform tower on our way to the nine ladies stone circle, created 4,000 years ago. This will be our coffee stop.
A varied walk now takes us to Robin Hood’s Stride, a fascinating rocky tor. This can be explored while we have lunch.
More field paths take us to Elton village after which we join the Limestone Way back to Winster.
Paths are mainly good but there are muddy sections even in good weather. Walking boots are advised.
Food and drinks are needed.
There are toilets in Winster.
In case of bad weather please contact the walk leader on the morning of the walk.
