Scout Scar car park (this is the one in an old quarry, not the other one nearby). Please note that Underbarrow Road is closed where it crosses the A591 Kendal bypass, and so the only access to the start is via the Lyth valley. Recommended route is to take the A5074, then head through Crosthwaite and Underbarrow - satnavs may send you via some very narrow roads without passing places.
