Devizes to Bradford on Avon Canal Walk featuring the Ancient Monument of Caen Locks

7am Breakfast (self service)

Meet 7.30am to leave 7.45am (prompt!!) from Hotel Main Entrance and walk to BoA Town Bridge 0.8 ml (Green Bus Stop, Ravello side) to catch D1 bus 8.16am to Trowbridge Sainsburys (£2.40 exact cash, no change given, or card)

Cross road to Trowbridge Manvers House and catch No.49 bus 8.50am to Devizes Brow Fort bus stop (just before Market Square) £3.00 exact cash, no change given, or card) NO CONCESSIONS on buses before 09.30am

Cross road to start Canal walk 9.30am from Devizes to BOA approx 12.67 miles total on canal, passing Caen Hill Locks (starting at No. 49 lock) descending lock flights to arrive at The Barge Inn at Seend after 4.7 miles for our 'banana' break.  Continuing along the canal towpath and Mid Wiltshire Way to Semington passing open countryside (dodging muddy puddles!).  We stop for lunch after another 4 miles (approx) just before Hilperton.  We then continue to Staverton, bypassing Trowbridge to BoA, finishing at lock 14 (35 locks passed in total). Crossing the main road to the Lock Inn, a licensed cafe, ice cream available + BEER! (approx 4.30pm) and then walking back (your choice) to Leigh Park Hotel. 0.8 ml from Town Bridge.
