Today’s walk is a repeat of an earlier walk that I led back in in May 2024, of which the details of it can be found here. In a repeat of this walk, we’ll be walking along the Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal as well as part of the main part of the Grand Union Canal.
Starting at Slough station, we’ll start off by walking along the B416 Stoke Road to take us to the Slough Arm of the canal, where we turn right to join it. After leaving Slough, we’ll pass the nearby Langley station and walk through the Iver Cutting, which then takes us under the M25 motorway. Shortly after this, we’ll pass the Packet Boat Marina and the end of the Slough Arm, where we’ll then cross over the main Grand Union Canal and turn right onto it. This will take us pass West Drayton station and parallel to the Great Western Mainline. Near the end of the walk, we’ll pass Lake Farm Country Park before we get to Station Road, where we turn right to walk toward our finishing point at Hayes & Harlington station. For those who want a pint at the end of the walk, we’ll be stopping off at The Old Crown, which is a short distance from the station.
TRAINS:
The recommended train to get is the 10:29 Elizabeth line service that arrives in Slough at 10:51.
DRIVING:
If you're driving, there are 2 car parks either side of Slough station, where parking fees apply at both. Please note that the walk starts at the Railway Terrace side/north side of the station.
