We are the Penrith Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A walk from Lanercost up onto Hadrian's Wall path, looping back to Lanercost. The going should be good (as they say about horse race courses), on well-used paths and minor roads, except for a short section on a fairly busy road.
In changing the walk destination from the south Tyne Valley we should be avoiding the forecast snow and very cold temperatures.
There are a number of 'escape routes' off Hadrian's Wall path which take you down to Lanercost on good tracks if you want to get back to the tearoom quicker than doing my full walk.

Small car park at Lanercost Bridge. From the Brampton road you go over the bridge and it is almost immediately on the left, with the entrance through the hedge. Easy to miss but if you get to the Priory you have gone too far.
