Overview

The Charles Gough Path in Tirril, near Penrith in Cumbria, is a lovely countryside walking route that commemorates Charles Gough, a Romantic-era artist and adventurer who became famous after tragically dying in the Lake District in 1805. His loyal dog was found guarding his body weeks later, and the story inspired poets like Wordsworth and painters like Edwin Landseer.

Opportunity for a social drink at The Queen's Head after the walk.
