We'll see out 2024 with a lovely bus walk in the South Oxfordshire countryside, on the final day before the £2 bus fare cap ends.
Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can (see Website link), so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.
Pace: medium.
Walk details
From the Unicorn, we skirt the edge of Rotherfield Peppard before heading north through a beech wood. We then pass through Bear Wood and across Kingwood Common, before heading past Wyfold Grange and the vineyards for the sparkling wine of the same name. The final stage of the walk takes us down a thin glade of trees before returning to the Unicorn through New Copse. Return buses to Reading run hourly.
Travel details
By public transport
Please travel on the 10.45 bus from stop FJ on Friar Street in central Reading if travelling by public transport. The walk leader intends to travel on this bus (although will probably board at one of the Caversham stops); if it is delayed the start of the walk may be as well.
By car
Please park considerately in the surrounding roads if driving. The Unicorn have requested that we do not use their car park.
Dogs
Dogs welcome on this walk, provided they are kept under control at all times and placed on a lead when requested by the walk leader.
Please see our dogs policy on our group website for more details.
Notes
- Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
- It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.
