Starting at the carpark by Farnham cricket ground and castle we walk through the park down into town before crossing Castle Street and through historic streets to the University of the Creative Arts. Walking past sculptures, we quickly join quiet lanes and skirt farmland. The famous St Swithun's Way, named after a Bishop of Winchester, forms part of this walk. We walk along bridle paths, quiet roads, cross fields, through the hamlet of Dippenhall, mentioned in the Domesday Book. We re-enter Farnham retracing our steps past the University to the town centre and the park.
Likely to be muddy so poles and robust waterproof boots essential. One set of 25 steps, no stiles, two inclines, some stony/rocky paths. Could be slippery due to leaves and/or frost and ice.
Parking by the cricket ground is free but popular so allow plenty of time. Alternative payable carparks are in the town centre and a second meeting point will be by the Nelsons Arms at 10.15 am.
