Just 40 minutes south of Farnham by car is the beautiful Meon Valley. Starting in East Meon we will walk though the valley on to the South Downs Way path and ascend up to the top of the Downs for beautiful views of both the Meon Valley and the Isle of Wight. Our lunch stop will be at Butser Hill before we return in the afternoon back down through the valley to the delightful village of East Meon. The walk has one main ascent up on to the South Downs.
We will include a 15 minute break for refreshments on the walk, so please bring a drink and snack and also a picnic lunch and plenty of water, if it is an all day walk, especially if the weather is hot. The lunch stop is at Butser Hill where there are toilets and additional refreshments available if required. As a visitor, if you are joining this walk do make sure you are fit enough for the pace and terrain and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk. You can contact Farnham & District Ramblers Group or the leader if in doubt. https://www.farnhamramblers.org.uk/walks-programme.html. Dogs on a lead are most welcome.
