A joint walk with Pontypool ramblers. This is a lovely walk through woodland and along the Wye Valley. We start in Fedw wood and head towards Ravensnest Wood and pick up on part of the Angidy River where we will pass the Ancient Iron works in Tintern. We then head up into Lower Hale wood and Upper Hale wood, from here we have a little road walking and fields towards Botany Bay until we pick up on Wye Valley walk which we follow to the River Wye, then leaving this behind we cross over the river to Brockweir and follow the river back towards the Village of Tintern. Here we pick up on the Wye Valley Way again and pass the Tintern Limekiln which were used from the 1700s and out of use by 1902. We then leave this trail and head across fields towards Penterry and St Marys church before re-entering the Fedw wood back to the start.
The terrain is a real mixture of good paths and rough paths, fields with some steep up and down sections, and some stiles.
