Overview

Meet and park on the roadside at Clifton Village School.

We will follow an anticlockwise route on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Ashbourne.

We start walking down Henmore Brook to St Oswald's Church then follow Bentley brook to Hanging Bridge and Mayfield. We continue on to Higher, Lower, Middle and Church Mayfield and return via Mayfield Yarn Mill.

There is one short, steep ascent but we will be walking green lanes and sheepn pastures. There are gated stiles. Care will be needed crossing roads. Walking poles may be helpful.

There are many fine stone buildings from the 14th -19th Century along this route.
