We are the Calderdale Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Our walk begins in the attractive village of Gargrave and takes us over gently undulating fields to the equally pretty Hamlet of East Marton, returning via the Leeds-Liverpool canal towpath. Lovely scenery abounds with views of Pendle Hill, Cracoe Fell and Malhamdale. Back in Gargrave, coffee and cake are available in a popular cafe, or the village pubs will offer something more thirst-quenching.
There are well-maintained public toilets in Gargrave village centre. Bring a packed lunch and drink for our planned lunch-stop. Waterproofs and walking boots are recommended. This is a circular route suitable for most abilities. Due to the spring season, lambing and the arrival of rare ground-nesting birds no dogs please.
Meet at the North Street car park, where electric car charging points are available. The CP is currently free of charge and additional space can be found on the road-side. Be aware that Gargrave is a popular walking destination so car sharing might be a suggested option.
