Overview

This area west of Cambridge benefits from a stretch of chalk ridge on the north side of the upper Cam valley, which provides ups and downs plus good views (weather permitting) from the top of the ridge.

Our walk heads uphill from Great Eversden to enter the Wimpole Estate at the top of the ridge, then follows public footpaths downhill and through the estate before heading back uphill, along the top of the ridge on a short section of the Mare Way, and a final downhill back to Eversden recreation ground.

At the end there are several optional additional loops within Great Eversden for those who would like a slightly longer walk.

Bring drink/snack for mid-morning break.
