A 10 mile undulating circular walk through Sussex countryside, farms and woodlands. Starting and finishing by walking through the National Trust's Nymans Woods, through countryside and woodland to Balcombe for a stop (c. 4 miles) at St Mary's Church (the church has a loo which will hopefully be open!). A late picnic lunch for 40 mins ish at Staplefield at 8 miles (2pm ish) where there is a pub. As it's a late lunch bring snacks for the morning stop if needed. Less than an hour after lunch back to the start. Nice views and lovely woodlands. It could be slippery and muddy in places. Very latest 4pm finish. There are loos just inside the entrance to Nymans if you want to pay a visit before we start- if you do, allow time to be back at the start point for 10.15am. Dogs welcome but on leads when in fields with livestock.
Cars required. Please car share if possible. Park in Handcross and meet opposite the Red Lion Pub for a 10.15am start.
At this time of year the trees can be lovely colours. Does depend on the weather though!
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give the walk leader a rough idea of how many people may be attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on. We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. Click here (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership) to apply. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits. Please then bring your membership card with you.
