We walk the route of the Borders Abbey way through to Selkirk. For those who feel that the entire walk might be too taxing, there is an opportunity near Ashkirk, where the route crosses the Ale Water, to follow a minor road to Ashkirk, and to catch a bus back to Selkirk.
The X95 service leaves Hawick at 10 and 40 minutes past each hour through the afternoon, arriving at Ashkirk roughly 11 minutes later.
REMEMBER TO BRING BUS PASSES WHERE APPROPRIATE.
Boots, poles and gaiters are advised. There will be a lunch stop and drinks stops as required
Linear walk, grade B+, strenuous. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
