Overview

The hills above Penmaenpool, on the southern side of the Mawddach Estuary, provide an ever-popular walking area for the Meirionnydd Ramblers, offering plenty of interest and varied terrain. This walk starts by heading west along the estuary on the Mawddach trail, with views across to the Rhinogydd and interesting birdlife to observe on the estuary flats. We then venture up into the Abergwynant woods. From the woods we head across the main road and up the quiet Gwynant valley to Kings Hostel. We continue to the Ty Nant car park where we take a path to Llyn Gwernan. eventually turning back across fields to Maes Anghared and thence back to Penmaenpool.
