NB - please check the meeting point and travel plans below carefully.
We start the second section of the Jorvic Way at the village hall in Acaster Malbis, heading towards the River Ouse where we'll walk a stretch along the bank. We'll then cross to join the Solar System bike path which forms part of the Trans Pennine Trail.
We leave the trail to walk on through the village of Escrick before joining a waterside footpath. Following this, we pick up the path in Spring Wood, onward through farmland, ending the walk in Wheldrake.
🚌 The 21 bus (York Pullman) from York Piccadilly (stop PF) at 09:05 and Station (stop RH) at 09:11 arrives in Acaster Malbis at 09:41, in time for the start of the walk at 10:00. At the end of the walk, there are buses back to York from Wheldrake at 14:40 (36) and 17:34 (18).
🅿️ If you prefer to drive, meet in Wheldrake at 9.30 (parking is on street on Broad Highway near the primary school) to car share to the start of the walk in Acaster Malbis (parking on street near village hall).
🐶 Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead. If you are bringing your dog by car then you must arrange beforehand with someone else who is happy to give you and your dog a lift to the start of the walk.
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch with you.
🍺 After the walk we can visit the Wenlock Arms in Wheldrake for a drink.
⚠️ After wet weather or high river levels some parts of the walk will be muddy - walking boots recommended!
