Starting opposite Paddock Farm near the village of Upper Hulme we will make our way to Naychurch Farm. At Naychurch Farm, we might be lucky to meet Anthony (the owner) who is full of knowledge about some interesting history of the farm. Then onto Ramshaw Rocks with some scrambling required where will will take an 11s break before heading down to Gradbach and the Mill where there is a picnic area to have lunch. From here will will head to the amazing Lud's Church and onto the Hanging Stone where there is plenty of photo opportunities. From here it is a long slog to reach a trig point before making our way to the Roaches. There will be some scrambling required across the Roaches. After the Roaches we pass Doxey Pool where the legend states the mermaid Jenny Greenteeth lives and over the years has taken unsuspecting hikers into the pool. At this point a group count will be taken to ensure no one has been taken by Jenny !!
There is roadside car parking available after Paddock Farm and just past the driveway to the Roaches House. If you want to park here, then walk back to Paddock Farm to meet where we will start the walk from. However, if there are no spaces left there is car parking available in Paddock Farm which charge 2 pounds for all day parking. Money placed inside a honesty box. I did notice that this car park does get quite full and some cars were blocked in by others.
Dogs are welcome on this walk, however, there is one walled stile which is quite high to cross over and therefore might be difficult for a dog. There is a farm gate nearby, but this was open on one recce and padlocked another time so no guarantee. Also, dogs won't be able to navigate the scrambling across the Roaches. There is a diversion path which meets up after the Roaches.
