A moderate 5.3 mile circular walk starting from Worth Matravers car park and joining the South Coast Path at Seacombe. It follows the coast path, passed Winspit Quarry to St Aldhelm’s Head and the historic little Norman Chapel. It continues around the head to West Hill before heading back inland to Worth Matravers. The way back to the carpark passes the Square and Compass, an 18th century pub that has changed little over the years and in place of a bar, uses 2 serving hatches. The menu choice is extensive…pie or pasty !, well worth a visit. It even has a small fossil museum attached.
The walk is uneven in places and involves steep terrain and two stiles. One section is also very boggy so boots essential and poles strongly advised.
Parking at Worth Matravers car park. Fee £2.00 for all day, payable in honesty box.
