Nelson Pit car park (P&D- pay with cash, card or pay by phone app) Start time 9.30 am Distance 12 miles. Total ascent 1500ft approx (Garmin)
Route : Along the canal into Lyme Park- Elmhurst wood to visitor centre-along the Gritstone Trail -lantern wood- Bowstones-Sponds Hill-Bakestondale Road-continue on the Gritstone Trail picking up the Peak District boundary walk-Bakestondale Moor -North Cheshire way -back onto the canal to the cars A few ladder stiles which may be slippy; paths are generally good but there are some mud/boggy areas so may wish to consider poles and gaiters.
Please bring a packed lunch/drinks.
