A picturesque walk of approx. 7-8 miles taking in Lyth Hill and its surrounds - exact mileage TBC shortly with a reccie of the final section of walk pending.
Starting in the village of Bayston Hill with a brief walk through residential streets, we'll head into surrounding fields to make our way to Lyth Hill. We'll take a lower track just beneath the hill to better enjoy unspoiled views of South Shropshire, before re-joining the hill top and heading towards Exfords Green Venison Farm where we may see some deer. We'll continue through a stretch of farmland boasting views of The Breidden Hills, arriving at Lythwood Farm where eggs can be bought via honesty box at £1.50 per half dozen if your backpack is up to the task of carrying them!
We'll then visit Bayston Hill Sensory Gardens where we can take an early lunch/snacks. The gardens incorporate attractive planting to appeal to the senses of sight, smell, taste and sound. From here we'll continue to Parrs Woods, to take in Parrs Pool, then on to Lower Pulley Lane which leads us past some attractive rural properties and on to the conclusion of our walk at The 3 Fishes Pub where you are welcome to stay for a drink, or continue on to our nearby start point and parking.
Very little ascent, just one or two brief uphill stretches and some stony uneven tracks in places, so please wear appropriate footwear of walking boots. Pack clothing to suit mixed weather; layers & a waterproof jacket recommended. Bring sufficient fluids to stay hydrated should the August sun appear!
May be muddy in places dependant on weather. Please bring lunch / refreshments for what will likely be an early Midday lunch stop. Toilets available at end of walk at 3 Fishes Pub. Ample parking at start point, though car sharing encouraged. Start point details will be messaged to participants upon booking.
3 Fishes Pub is dog friendly with dogs allowed in outside beer garden area only. Dogs welcome on walk, but please note the Lyth Hill area is popular with dog walkers, so only bring 4 legged friends if they are comfortable with encountering other dogs.
