This is the second section of the Medway Valley Walk. This area has a lovely rural feel, passing through quiet countryside via Teston Bridge Country Park, where there has been a lock since 1740. Hopefully the toilets will be open !
We follow the meandering river Medway to East Farleigh for a picnic lunch. There is a nearby pub for refreshments. We get sights of Nettlestead Place and Barham Court, described by Edward Hasted as "the greatest ornament in this part of the country".
After lunch we reach the outskirts of Maidstone( possible drop out point at 7.5miles). We follow the river with sights of Allington Castle, and to a wooded area to Aylesford.
There is an hourly bus back to Maidstone East station, and a pub in the village
