Area Sunday Short Walk. Distances are generally 4 to 6 miles.

Linear Walk  (ie starts and ends at different stations)            No Booking Required

Distance/Ascent -  Less than 6 miles with climbs up to 200ft  and total ascent of about 500ft ( open to reduction )

Meeting time and place - 9.30 Manchester Piccadilly railway station to board the 9.45 train to Buxton, 

Train Ticket - Disley Return (if you hold a GM concessionary card you will only need a single from Disley to Middlewood).

Car Parking - If travelling by car, park on an A6 layby where the main road crosses above the Middlewood Way Trail, between Hazel Grove and High Lane.  Take the Trail, signposted from one end of each layby, to arrive at Middlewood rail station before 10.20 at the latest,

Walk start time -  from Middlewood railway station shortly after the 10.12am arrival of the train from M/C Piccadilly

Note - All walkers are advised to check  rail and bus network websites, close to departure time, in case of late timetable changes. 

Expected return time -  no later than 14.30 at Disley railway station and, for train users, the return departure is at 15.24 on the  Manchester Piccadilly train.

For Walkers parked at Middlewood , the return is either :

(1)        16.23, using the Manchester Piccadilly TRAIN, to alight at MIDDLEWOOD Station.

or 

(2)        Hourly ( 14.45, 15.45 or 16.45) boarding the 199 Skyline BUS, from the Ram’s Head stop in Disley, to alight at  :  Royal Oak stop, HIGH LANE,  (after which there is a 5 min pavemented walk at the side of the A6, westward, to the Middlewood Trail)

Note -  Bus departure times can be unreliable, and the 199 may need an uncertain waiting time, at the bus stop, of up to 20 minutes.
