Starting at the Sanctuary, we first head north to find the Polishers Stone. Possibly a fallen standing stone, the Polisher is a very rare example of a stone used to polish stone axes. We then head a little further north along the Ridgeway, before turning and making our way across Avebury Down back to the beginning. It is mostly up hill all the way for the first half, and down hill for the second. We will stop for a break to explore the sarsen stones known as Grey Wethers and have a bite to eat, so please bring your refreshments.
