As certain members of our esteemed walking group might be feeling a little fragile the morning after a certain big party, we'll be taking a nice relaxed walk on the flat from Waterside out along the canal to Auchinstarry for refreshments, and back down the other side of the canal to Waterside again.
There are several ways to get to Waterside - it's about 40 minutes walk up the Luggie from the centre of Kirkintilloch, or you could take the x87 bus which gets here just after 9am, or you could drive and find a space to park near the turning circle at Pit Road. You can probably organise a car share from Southbank, although since I live very near the start point I'll not be doing that. (If you're coming by bus let me know, I'll show up early and keep you company).
The walk itself is about 11 miles on good paths, with a lot of hard surface so forgiving soles and padded socks would probably be good idea.
Refreshments and toilets available at the Boat House pub/restaurant at Auchenstarry Marina.
There's also picnic tables if you want to bring your own refreshments
