Overview

This circular walk explores the attractive undulating countryside south-east of Overton.  From the car park on the east side of the village we head north and then east, passing the source of the River Test on our way to the small church of Holy Trinity & St Andrew at Ashe, which has associations with the Austen and Lefroy families. After pausing here briefly, we then cross the B3400 and continue through Ashe Park as far as Peak Hill House on the edge of Steventon. After walking parallel with the Basingstoke-Winchester railway line for a short while, we head back to Overton via Upper Ashe House and Berrydown Farm.

From the traffic lights in the centre of Overton, follow the B3400 east uphill. Half way up the hill turn left at Turnpike Cottages into a free car park/recycling site Although there are 40 parking spaces, it's a well-used car park, so car-sharing would be a good idea where possible.
