Burbage is a lovely area of the Peak District - it is a joy to walk here. We leave Longshaw via Yarncliffe and cross the road to enter Padley Gorge. After crossing Burbage Brook we have a short ascent to the upper reaches of Bolehill Quarry where we have our coffee break. We then have level walking to cross Surprise View and follow below the crags of Millstone Edge. Our route then takes us across Hathersage Moor around Higger Tor to Upper Burbage. After walking over Burbage rocks and moor we have our lunch stop with extensive views towards Sheffield. Following Houndkirk road track then takes us back to Longshaw.
Paths are mainly good and can be rugged in places so walking boots are recommended.
Food and drinks are needed for our breaks.
There are toilets at the visitor centre.
Please bring National Trust cards for parking.
In case of bad weather please contact the walk leader on the morning of the walk.
