Burbage is a lovely area of the Peak District - it is a joy to walk here. We walk through Longshaw to Burbage Brook and into Padley Gorge. Keeping to the high level we come out onto the upper level of Bolehill Quarry and follow this round to Surprise View, where we take the paths below Millstone Edge and have a coffee break. We shortly emerge into the open on Hathersage Moor. Our route takes us around the back of Higger Tor and continues to Upper Burbage. Enjoying the views all around we walk along Burbage Rocks, across Burbage Moor to Houndkirk Road. Our lunch stop here has extensive views towards Sheffield. A short walk returns us to Longshaw.
Paths are mainly good and can be rugged in places so walking boots are recommended.
Food and drinks are needed for our breaks.
There are toilets at the visitor centre.
Please bring National Trust cards for parking.
In case of bad weather please contact the walk leader on the morning of the walk.
