Overview

An intensive short walk with plenty of climbing .If the weather is good we should have great views along Piethorne Valley.

Tram-based walk

Leader: Mark H, meeting at walk start

Ascent: 350 metres

Transport to Walk Start: 10:45 tram from Manchester Victoria station (final destination Rochdale).

Meet Point:  On the tram platform at Victoria Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the tram or at Newhey Metrolink.

Suggested Ticket: Metrolink Off-Peak 1-Day Travelcard Zones 1-4 £4.90

Walk Start: Newhey Metrolink stop at 11:30. If you drive, please leave time for parking.

Return Services: Trams to Manchester every 12 minutes

Waypoints: Haugh, Bethany Lane Ogden Reservoir , Piethorne, Rooden Reservoir ,Knowsley Plantation, Cold Greave, Norman Hill, Tunshill Lane, Ogden Reservoir, Woodside.

Extra:  No toilets on the tram or at walk start. Toilets en route at Ogden Ranger Post. Optional drinks at the end of the walk at Ogden's Bull's Head or possibly the Bird if reopened.
