Overview

Leaders: Hazel P. & Jane Y.
This is a mainly wooded walk, following the lovely Bickleigh Vale upstream along the banks of the R. Plym to Shaugh Prior and returning along the old S.Devon & Tavistock Railway high above the valley. On the walk there are a number of industrial archaeological sites of interest and, apart from a couple of stiff climbs in the middle of the walk, an easy route.
The walk follows the towpath of an old canal into the Plym valley, via the Cann viaduct to join the main river leading up to Shaugh Prior. From here the route goes to Shaugh Bridge, crossing the R. Meavy to pick up the old railway track, returning via Cann viaduct to Plym Bridge.
