Our group offers walks which are accessible by public transport and take place throughout the South East of England plus a summer holiday and a New Year break
A Linear walk to Chipstead Station led by Sue C. First hour, we’ll explore the famous Webb Estate (road walking – no cars). Lunch at Oaks Park (café, toilets). Afternoon, cross country through farms and open commons. Fine views and (hopefully) a lovely display of daffodils. Map: E161/146, London A-Z.
Check trains the day before. Use Oyster/contactless/Freedom Pass.
Purley Station (Zone 6) at ticket office (down near Platform 1 – toilets are up on Platform 2 -direct Thameslink train from Blackfriars at 10:03, calling at East Croydon (Platform 5) at 10:37 and arriving at Purley at 10:42 OR Southern train from Victoria at 10:16, calling at Clapham Junction at 10:23 and changing at East Croydon at 10:32 (Platform 2) to the Thameslink train which departs from Platform 5 at 10:37).
Chipstead Station (Zone 6 – aiming for rail replacement bus which departs 15:29 and arrives at Purley at 15:52).
